Many of the ingredients in our formulas are harvested right here in Minnesota, on ModernRoots' own small farm. What isn't produced in-house is sourced from farms we trust.

Where it all took root: our beginning
In 2008, Meg's daughter was born with a severe skin condition and nothing on store shelves could help without resorting to harsh chemicals. Drawing on her lifelong passion and expertise in botany and biology, Meg began hand-crafting remedies tailored to her daughter's unique skin chemistry. The results spoke for themselves.
Meg brought those early formulas to a table at the local farmer's market, where she also sold naturally raised foods and spent hours explaining to neighbors why what touches the skin matters just as much as what fills the plate. It didn't take long for word to spread, and ModernRoots took off.
Grounded in age-old herbal wisdom and refined through modern skin science, that same philosophy guides everything ModernRoots makes to this day.
By 2013, ModernRoots had grown from that market table into its own online shop, sending its first order out that November. A single formula made for Meg's daughter had become the foundation of a full product line, reaching more people with each passing year.
